ABC, ESPN add more to iTunes

ESPN and ABC Sports, the first major sports content providers to the iTunes Music Store, will launch the second wave of video content to sports fans for purchase and download on iTunes.

Daily highlights and gold medal runs from Winter X Games 10 (January 28 – Feb. 1, ESPN and ABC Sports) will be available the morning after completion. On Saturday, Jan. 28, archival content from Winter X Games Nine will be available, as well as profiles of legendary sports figures from the award-winning SportsCentury biography series, popular This Is SportsCenter commercials, and episodes of ESPN Original Entertainment s Streetball.

ESPN delivers top sports content to fans wherever and whenever they want it, said Tanya Van Court, vice president and general manager, ESPN New Media video products. Our first foray on the iTunes Music Store clearly illustrates there is a demand for quality sports content, and we re very excited about this second batch of programming.
This content follows the successful launch earlier this month of ABC Sports Bowl Championship Series (BCS) college football games. The 15-minute condensed versions of the four games The Rose Bowl, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl and Sugar Bowl proved hugely popular among sports fans with iPods. The Rose Bowl between the University of Texas and USC was the most downloaded video on iTunes for ten straight days. All four games appeared on the iTunes Top 10 most downloaded videos list at one point.
