Daktronics ready for March Madness

Daktronics will provide five of its ProTable digital scorer s table systems to the NCAA for use during the Men s Basketball Final Four tournament in Indianapolis on April 1 and 3 and the Women s Final Four championship in Boston on April 2 and 4.

Each ProTable system is an LED-based scorer s table approximately 9-feet, 8-inches wide and three-feet tall that can display real-time team and player statistics, graphics, animations and even video clips.
The Daktronics Windows-based Venus 7000 control system has the capability to show text data, logos & graphics, animation, and pre-recorded video clips, says Mark Steinkamp, Daktronics marketing and sales support manager. It also has the capability to show real time statistical data.

Steinkamp says the totally digital system makes changing content quick and easy. There s no expenses for printing artwork needed for scrolling tables or backlit static panels, he says, And no expense for mechanically changing out the scrolling artwork or printed panels.

Costs of the panels vary depending upon color capability and resolution of the displays. Pixel pitches can vary from 23mm (.9 inch) center-to-center spacing to 10 mm (.39 inch) center-to-center spacing.
The Men s Final Four will be held in the RCA Dome in Indianapolis while the Women s Final Four will be held at the TD Banknorth Garden in Boston, both of which have Daktronics systems installed for other scoreboard operations. Steinkamp says 10 additional arenas that will hold first round, second round and regional games also have Daktronics scoring, timing and display equipment.
