SVG kicks off NAB with April 23 Pre-Game Bash

The Sports Video Group, NFL Network lead anchor Rich Eisen, and its sponsors will kick off NAB 2006 with the SVG NAB Pre-Game Show on Sunday, April 23 in Las Vegas. The exciting event will give industry professionals a unique networking opportunity and sneak peek at new technologies from the industry’s top manufacturers. It will be held at ICE, one of the hottest clubs in Las Vegas, from 9-11 p.m.

Eisen will host the reception as well as the Main Event: a series of “Beat the Buzzer” presentations from a select group of sponsors. SVG sponsors currently include Avid, Canon, Grass Valley, NMT, Snell & Wilcox, Sony, Vitec, Wohler, and others. During “Beat the Buzzer” sponsor companies will give SVG members a lively look at their product offerings and members of the SVG Advisory Board, in turn, will give manufacturers a wish-list of technology developments they believe will advance the art of sports content creation.

Adam Shaw, SVP, NFL network distribution, says, “Having an opportunity to get together with other members of the sports industry at the Sports Video Group NAB Pre-Game is invaluable because it gives us a chance to talk about new technologies and initiatives and to learn from each other.”

Prior to joining the NFL Network in 2003 Eisen was a mainstay at ESPN where he anchored Baseball2Day, ESPNEWS and served as an anchor/reporter for ESPN’s SportsCenter from 1996 to 2003. He also hosted Baseball Tonight, RPM 2Night and handled play-by-play duties for Major League Baseball on ESPN and ESPN2.

“The Sports Video Group gathering at NAB will allow for fun, informal, important exchange of information between equipment manufacturers and television producers,” said Steve Hellmuth, NBA Entertainment senior vice president of operations and technology. “While we see each other across conference tables and in the field, this unique opportunity will allow us to focus as a group on the challenges ahead as viewers demand more access, more stats, surround sound, and high-definition.”

The event is open to invited guests of the Sports Video Group as well as its members. Entry to the event is one of many exclusive Sports Video Group member benefits. Others benefits include a year-long subscription to the SVG Insider (the industry’s only twice-weekly technology information news resource), invitations to SVG training seminars and events, a copy of the SVG Yearbook to be published in January, 2007, and access to other SVG members-only products like online member, vendor and venue directories.
