Pesa’s vision: A Thousand points of routing

Pesa will hit NAB with a new Cheetah routing system that will handle 1,024×1,024 inputs and outputs in two equipment racks, giving even the largest broadcast, cable and sports network facilities massive amounts of routing flexibility.

Bob McAlpine, SVP of sales and marketing for Pesa, says the system gives operations that are dealing with a large amount of legacy gear as well as a large amount of HD gear the space needed to ensure signals can be passed around a facility. Facilities can also begin with SD signals and then upgrade later to HD for minimal cost, according to the company.

With the 1024XR, critical signal management such as A-to-D, D-to-A, HD-to-SDI conversion, and analog outputs for monitoring are all available options in what we believe to be the smallest 1024×1024 system on the market, says McAlphine.

The space savings is the result of an-onboard distribution circuit that removes the need to have space-consuming externals DAs, not to mention coax cable, and power supplies.

Cheetah 1024XR systems support high-quality signal routing for SDI, HD, and ASI in either coax or fiber I/O. Each 41-RU frame allows for very low power consumption, N+1 power, and dual internal control. It also includes Pesa s 3500PRO control software and Viewport setup and diagnostics software.
