Avid Deko 4.0 gives graphics a bounce

Avid Deko 4.0 on-air graphics software is now available from Avid Technology. While the product is new it’s already taken center-stage in the sports community as NBC used a beta version of the system for the Torino Winter Games.

Deko users who upgrade (or new customers) will find a number of new enhancements including depth and rotation controls for 3D animations, an integrated ClipDeko option for HD and hybrid SD/HD Deko systems that gives flexibility for animating video clips, and a new multi-compose feature.

Multi-Compose provides two side-by-side canvases for quickly building
multiple versions of a single graphic. Avid says the improved layout makes it
easy to compose graphics for SD and HD broadcasts simultaneously, or to
create new versions in other languages.

Deko 4.0 also has new Motion Behaviors that allow users to assign
unique effect properties to individual graphic layers. User-defined
properties like attract, repel, scale, bounce, jitter, flash and blur
react automatically when layers intersect.

Other features include automatic formatting capabilities that ensure that new graphics conform to design guidelines and templates and management tools that enable users to move graphics effortlessly between any HD and SD broadcast format. Users can also import QuickTime files directly to ClipDeko for integration with Deko graphics and render complete Deko motions, including audio for QuickTime
files, to share with Avid editing systems that are used for news and
promo creation
Deko 4.0 gives users tools for building real-time animations and effects with the help of templates and other tools. It also allows for animations to be easily ported over the Avid and other nonlinear editing systems.
