Beijing Olympic first OB van set for fall delivery

Beijing Olympic Broadcasting Company (BOB) expects to receive its first HDTV outdoor broadcasting (OB) van this August or September.

Sanitec is system integrater of the truck which BOB will use to produce and distribute the Olympic Games and Paralympics Games in 2008.

The new OB van is being outfitted with 42 Avitech MCC-8004 multi-image display processors, the company’s latest generation multiviewer modules. The system also includes 14 Grass Valley LDK6000 cameras, a Concerto routing switcher / Jupiter control systems, and an HD Kalypso production switcher.
The decision to equip the OB Van with Avitech equipment was a straightforward choice for us, states Mr. Liu Fei, Deputy Director of Sanitec Broadcast Systems, Beijing. Avitech is known for their reliability, cost-effectiveness, and scalability, and we felt confident that as a team we could provide a comprehensive and robust video display monitoring solution for BOB.

A unique feature of the MCC-8004 is that it can auto-detect whether the incoming signal is in 4:3 or in 16:9, and automatically switches to the correct aspect ratio. Another unique feature is that the system is built around an open and distributed modular architecture. What this means is that there is no single point of failure and a system will never experience catastrophic failure. In addition, the Avitech system supports universal languages, including European and Asian character sets.
