MotoGP goes mobile with Amp’d

Amp’d Mobile has joined with MotoGP as the official wireless service for the MotoGP Racing Series in the U.S. Amp’d will broadcast MotoGP events that feature the cream of the crop in Grand Prix motorcycle racing, directly to the handsets of Amp’d Mobile members. Amp’d will be the first mobile carrier to give subscribers the ability to watch events from all around the globe including Europe, China, Australia and the U.S.

As the official U.S. wireless provider of MotoGP, Amp’d will exclusively offer MotoGP programming in the mobile space. Amp’d will create a MotoGP channel as part of Amp’d Sports to deliver near-live broadcasts of the events as well as exclusive behind-the-scenes content from MotoGP top U.S. riders like Nicky Hayden.
Among the features on the service will be live and near live video, video highlights post race, pre-race coverage from race host city, and exclusive MotoGP content: ringtones and wallpapers.
As part of the partnership, Amp’d will mobile cast live video exclusively from the Red Bull US Grand Prix in Laguna Seca on July 23, 2006. Elements of Amp’d wireless services will be incorporated into the US Grand Prix providing an on-site interactive experience for MotoGP fans.

“MotoGP represents the first video mobile cast of overseas programming to a US carrier,” said Seth Cummings, senior vice president, wireless content & Internet services for Amp’d Mobile. “We look forward to exclusively deploying a full suite of MotoGP race video, highlights, wallpapers, ringtones, games and more. Additionally, our production teams are gearing up to produce live start-to-end coverage of the Laguna Seca Red Bull Grand Prix this July.”
