Stats, Inc., Data System expand relationship

Stats, Inc. and Japan-based sports stats service Data System have expanded their relationship with Stats, Inc. becoming Data System’s second-largest investor and securing a seat on the board of directors.

The goal is to bring the industry’s most complete worldwide sports information portfolio. Stats is Data’s exclusive licensing agent for Japanese sports like baseball and J League soccer. Data System operates as the licensing agent of Stats editorial content in Japan and together they will expand sports coverage globally while maintaining marketing and sales exclusivity in their home territory.
The companies say that following the World Baseball Classic the eyes of Japanese baseball fans are not only watching domestic baseball but also baseball leagues outside of Japan. Similar trends developed with other sports such as basketball, hockey, and others.
“We look forward to building a world wide business strategy with STATS through this opportunity,” said Miyuki Morimoto, President at Data Stadium.
Robert Schur Executive Vice President at Stats said, “We’re very pleased with our investment in their operation and look forward to utilizing their expertise even more in the future as we work together in an even greater capacity.”
