MLB taps Viyya for security portal

By Andrew Lippe
Major League Baseball has selected Viyya Technologies software to improve their communications Infrastructure and the overall safety of personnel at the 30 major league ballparks.
While the company could not explain in detail how MLB will use the system (due to security) it can say that the league will create a Security Operations Portal and server-based Web applications to serve the needs and requirements of Information Technology (IT) and Physical Security Officers in government and corporate America.

The Security Operations Portal (SOP) offers security software modules that contain best practices for information management, situation awareness and security processes, says Richard Perine Chief Technology Officer Viyya Technologies. When properly implemented, it can provide a competitive advantage in this case, increased business intelligence.

Viyya says the SOP allows MLB to quickly and cost-effectively implement a viable IT solution that enables security and intelligence throughout the entire enterprise The SOP organizes and manages resources and processes that are not centrally located. This is significant to Major League Baseball, for teams and personnel are located throughout the country.

SOP is the glass that helps MLB to see all activities, information and processes in one place, enabling them to make decisions based on timely information, says Perine.
SOP effectively manages resources and makes correlations that were not previously possible between past, present and projected data. The SOP has a robust, preemptive alerting module that is always crawling information for key concepts or terms that are dictated by the user, says Peine.
Viyya says it also expects to talk with other leagues about its technology.
