Meadowlands Sports Complex goes WiFi

By Andrew Lippe
Wave2Wave Communications has installed a new Wi-Fi service at the Meadowlands Sports Complex in New Jersey, bringing wireless access to the Continental Airlines Arena, Giants Stadium and Meadowlands Racetrack.

“With the growing demand for internet access by the press, concert promoters and the various sports leagues, we needed to design and install a comprehensive WiFi solution,” said Michael Hegewald, VP of Information Technology at NJSEA.

The new connectivity will help professionals and fans alike. Members of the press will be given a login account and pay a daily or monthly installation fee in order to get Internet access, according to Andrew Klein of Marketing and Public Relations at Wave2Wave Communications. Fans will also be able to access the WiFi network as well and pricing is to be determined.

“Utilizing Wave2Wave’s fixed wireless technologies, NJSEA has saved time and money by eliminating the need of running expensive cables,” says Steven Asman, President of Wave2Wave Communications.

Wave2Wave is currently looking at working with other arenas. Primary installation is free of charge but the company charges to maintain the network.
