ShowMgr.com Teams With SVG, Stadium Managers Association to Build First Venue Database for Broadcast Media Operations

In a strategic partnership formed to advance broadcast media production in the multibillion-dollar sports industry, ShowMgr.com, the creator of software applications for managing broadcast media operations, and two major sports industry organizations have launched a joint technology initiative: the creation of the first nationwide venue database for broadcast sports and other live events. Joining forces with ShowMgr.com are Sports Video Group (SVG), an organization of high-level sports executives advancing the creation, production and distribution of sports content; and Stadium Managers Association (SMA), which promotes state-of-the-art management of stadiums around the world.

Through the groundbreaking efforts of the new partnership, sports organizations, venues and broadcasters will benefit from centralized, on-demand access to technical, operational and administrative information about each venue.

We’re proud to join SVG and SMA in bringing advancements to the broadcast sports production and distribution process, said Kevin Rosen, CEO of ShowMgr.com. When our venue database is complete, it will be available online to SVG and SMA members as well as our customers. It s designed to empower everyone involved in a production enterprise to make informed decisions that save time, control costs and maximize resources. Ultimately, streamlined broadcast productions will also enhance the fan experience, so everybody wins.

Our members tell us an online database of facility technical specifications and related contact information will save them both time and money in planning and producing world-class TV productions, said Ken Kerschbaumer, SVG editorial director. Working with SMA and its members, we can ensure the information is accurate and timely, making our venue database an extremely useful tool for members of both organizations.

In the coming months, ShowMgr.com will build the venue database using detailed information collected by SVG and SMA about facilities, resources and personnel at more than 400 professional and collegiate stadiums. ShowMgr.com will populate data fields by working with its clients, who include broadcasters such as CBS, Fox Sports and Fox Regional networks, and integrate the venue database with its own suite of operations management applications for broadcast, production and post-production industries.

Secure, user-specific Web portals built by ShowMgr.com offer broadcast media executives, producers and directors a complete, 24/7 view of the production enterprise from anywhere in the world. Production staff members and crews can also login to view up-to-date schedules, budgets, travel itineraries and more.

The addition of the venue portal will provide the venues, sports organizations and broadcasters an important tool for communicating key logistical information that enhances the production process, Rosen explained.

By mapping broadcast services used in each stadium, we’re providing valuable information that will benefit the stadiums and the television production companies that broadcast the games, explained Kerry Goodson, executive director of SMA.

Jay C. Madison, executive vice president of ShowMgr.com, noted that ShowMgr.com software is currently in beta testing and will be finalized in the coming weeks with the help of SMA and SVG members.

To assist advance teams and field operation crews in the planning and execution of a broadcast, we built within the venue portal the ability to monitor and audit data entry, provide feedback, and download comprehensive overview reports, Madison explained. Those reports are available in Adobe PDF format on an ad hoc basis or on a scheduled basis for distribution.
