SVG, EVS launch EVS operator database

EVS, a leading provider of video server technology for sports and live-event TV productions, has launched an online database of qualified EVS operators with the Sports Video Group, a sports technology association.

The database can be used by TV producers and crewers to find qualified EVS operators anywhere in the U.S.

“EVS is a leader in the live remote production environment and it’s become even more evident, especially as the transition has taken us to High Definition that there is a need for a central, easy-accessible database to qualified operators throughout the country,” states Greg Macchia, General Manager of Operations for EVS USA.

EVS branded servers are reported to be in use in 85% of all HD/SD mobile trucks, and in 98% of all HD mobile trucks.

“Qualified EVS operators are a vital freelance workforce for today’s sports productions and SVG is proud to be able to provide this resource to our members and to the North American sports television community,” explains Martin Porter, SVG Executive Director.

There are estimated to be 400 qualified EVS operators active in the field in North America; the SVG EVS Operator Database launches officially on December 18, 2007 with over 115 names and contacts.
