Cablevision Brings Original Videos and Tech Content from CNET Direct to iO Digital Cable Customers

Cablevision
Systems Corp. announced the launch of an innovative technology focused
interactive channel in partnership with CNET (www.cnet.com), the place where
people go to discover the latest in tech and consumer electronics, and a
property of CNET Networks, Inc. “CNET TV – Powered By Optimum” is now
available to iO digital cable customers on channel 607. The free channel
features hours of product reviews, commentary on breaking tech news, help and
how-to advice, and CNET’s popular tech shows like the Top 5, Insider Secrets,
and Prize Fight, available at all times through the convenience of on demand.

Optimum customers enjoy the best voice, video and high-speed Internet services
in our market, over the nation’s most advanced fiber optic network, which makes
them a perfect audience for the kind of technology-focused news and information
for which CNET is so highly regarded,” said Dermot McCormack, Cablevision’s
senior vice president of interactive product management. “We are pleased
to deliver this valuable content to our digital cable customers through the
power and convenience of interactive television, particularly since CNET is
focused on covering the kinds of devices our customers use to get the most out
of their Optimum services, including computers, high- definition televisions,
digital cameras and music players.”

TV – Powered By Optimum,” initially features several hours of programming,
broken into more than 100 distinct titles or choices for iO customers.
Selections available today include the latest videos on favorite tech products
and topics, from reviews of Apple’s iPhone and the new MacBook Pro notebook
computer, popular gaming systems, the latest HDTV’s, to MP3 Players. Viewers
are also able to view CNET’s popular tech shows like Top 5 and Prize Fight,
which help consumers figure out which gadgets to buy and how to get the most
out of them. The content will be refreshed and updated each month and the
service will be advertiser-supported and available to Cablevision’s iO
customers without any additional charge.

With more
than 2.5 million iO digital cable customers, 80 percent of Cablevision’s cable
television customers are digital customers, with access to video on demand and
interactive television services like News 12 Interactive and CNET TV – Powered
By Optimum.
