NJ Nets select Wireworks for breakout boxes

Wireworks, a provider of audio/video cabling systems, was recently commissioned by the NJ Nets to create custom breakout boxes that would provide power, video feed and statistics to three separate courtside suites located at the Continental Airlines Arena.

The box assemblies were created to provide an easy set-up assembly, as the system is disconnected after each game and put aside, making durability a major factor. These sets provide power and two separate video feeds to the 16 televisions set up on three corners of the court at each game. The boxes needed special video splitting systems for each feed and breakout boxes along the length of the assembly to play video and provide in-game statistics. This feature gives courtside recipients an enhanced game experience, by being able to watch the television for instant replays and statistics throughout the game.

“We knew that Wireworks had an excellent reputation and experienced it first hand when they designed a similar system for us in 1996,” states Tom Ferreri, Vice President of Arena Operations. “The quality and durability of their work, especially for this custom job, exceeded all of our expectations. The system is maintenance free, which is important when you consider that we have to set things up and take them down 41 times a season. This system handles abuse and stress well and the best part is that we set it up, plug it in and we’re ready to go.”

The Wireworks system was used for the first time during the recently completed 2006-2007 season and is expected to last for many seasons to come.

“We are excited to be working with the NJ Nets and the Meadowlands staff again,” says Gerald Krulewicz, owner of Wireworks Corporation. “With the fast-paced action on the court, the Nets wanted to enhance the thrill of going to an NBA game and make sure that courtside fans didn’t miss any of the action.”
