Kyocera Supplies Solar Modules for World’s Largest Stadium-Integrated Photovoltaic System

The
world’s largest stadium-integrated photovoltaic system went into operation this
week on the STADE DE SUISSE Wankdorf Bern. After the additional installation of
2,808 solar modules, the stadium now has 7,930 modules from the Japanese
technology company Kyocera, providing an overall output of 1,346.774 kWp. The
expanded system will produce 1,134,045 kWh per year and save on the emission of
630 tons of CO2 annually.

With this
expansion, the stadium of the Swiss first league soccer club BSC Young Boys
Bern has the world’s largest stadium-integrated photovoltaic system on its
roof. The complete installation, supplying 1,346.774 kWp, was planned by system
supplier TRITEC and assembled on the stadium over a total construction period
of 10 months. The annual energy yield of 1,134,045 kWh covers the electricity
consumption of more than 350 local four-person households. The STADE DE
SUISSE Wankdorf Bern has been honored for its integration of the photovoltaic
system, receiving both the Swiss and European Solar Awards, and is ideally
equipped as a venue for the European soccer championships (UEFA EURO 2008™) in
Switzerland and

Austria.
