Sony XDCAM EX due to arrive in November for less than $7,000

Sony hit IBC full force on Thursday with the announcement that the Sony XDCAM EX camcorder, which can record on solid-state media like the PCExpress card will be available in November and will cost less than $7,000 including two 8 GB PCExpress cards. A deck and drive will also be available.

In other Sony news the BVM-L239 Trimaster monitor, offering reference-grade monitoring on an LCD display. The introduction culminates four years of research and development.

Lastly, in other XDCAM news the first wave of dual-layer recording will be available in November, allowing for a single Blu-ray disk to record up to four hours of material, making it ideal for live sporting event recording. A 4:2:2 version of XDCAM will also be available in early 2008 recording at 50 Mbps on the dual-layer disc.

Sony’s European OB businss is also on the upswing with Sony involved with the construction of 14 HD vehicles since last NAB.
