Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban, HDNet to air MMA fights

Mark
Cuban is known for being the charismatic owner of the Dallas Mavericks
franchise and soon will be starring in ABC’s hit show, “Dancing with the Stars.”
Now, he has announced that his high definition network is entering the world of
mixed-martial-arts.

Cuban’s new
fight franchise, “HDNet FiGHTS” will launch on Saturday, October 13 broadcasting
from the
American
Airlines
Center
in

Dallas
Texas.

“MMA has
exploded over the years,” said Cuban. “This event on October 13 will show good
fighters and we will let them put on the show.

Cuban
exploration into MMA came as the result of his recent partnership with the new
HDNet FiGHTS Commissioner, Guy Mezger. Mezger is an Ultimate Fighting
Championship fighter and a former MMA fighter. . HDNet has aired MMA fights
before but “HDNet Fights” shows Cuban’s commitment to a sport that he has
embraced wholeheartedly.

Mixed
Martial Arts superstar Chuck Liddell and comedian Kevin James will also host
INSIDE MMA, the new weekly HDNet series covering the latest news, rankings,
stats and highlights from the world of Mixed Martial Arts.
The series debuts on HDNet at 9:30 p.m. this
Friday. The debut episode will feature appearance by Guy Mezger.

The main
event on Oct. 13 will feature Eric Paulson, former Shooto World Champion
(10-4-1, Los Angeles) taking on 5-time World Kick Boxing Champion, Jeff Ford
(7-2, K1Denver) for the light heavyweight title.

“This
fight could be a minute and half a TV producer’s worst nightmare,” added Mezger.
