Lucas Oil stadium to be state-of-the-art

The new
Indianapolis Colts stadium, Lucas Oil Stadium will feature state-of-the-art
technology including credit cards at food stands, and new bigger and better
video and ribbon boards.

”It’s certainly not your grandfather’s fieldhouse,” said Fred Glass, head of
the Capital Improvement Board, which will run Lucas Oil Stadium for the city
once it is built. ‘”We want this building to be viable for the next 30 years. We
want to be on the cutting edge of the next series of buildings.”

The stadium, which is estimated to cost between $695 million and $720 million,
is scheduled to open in August 2008. The building is being wired with miles of
fiber optics and other infrastructure in order to incorporate new technologies
in the future.

”Our stadium is designed to be flexible for the future, “said John Klipsch,
executive director of the Indiana Stadium and Convention Building Authority,
the state agency building the new stadium.

Fans will enjoy two new video boards, which will be 96 feet wide and 27 feet high
which is more than three times the size of ones in the RCA Dome. There will
also be 1500 feet of ribbon board.

“We are just in the design stages of our WiFi, video
and telephonic communications of the project,” adds Klipsch.
