Neutrik unveils new products at AES 2007

Neutrik, designer
and manufacturer of the XX series XLR cable connector, continues to offer
innovations in state-of-the-art audio connectivity with the introduction of its
IP65 rated OpticalCon at AES 2007. The well-established solid and
ruggadized-protected fiber optic connector system has now been upgraded for
dust tight and water jet protection.

The
upgrade extends the outdoor capabilities of the OpticalCon to, sealing the
connector against dust and protecting it against water jet. This is
especially useful when weatherproof extensions are required. To
achieve a water resistant IP65 connection, additional seals and gaskets have
been employed on the chassis connector and cable ends. For earlier
versions of OpticalCon cable connection systems an upgrade kit will be offered
so it can be combined with the upgraded NO2-4FDW chassis connector or
NAO2-4S75W coupler. The new cable ends are 100% backwards compatible and
work with all existing chassis installations.

“With the
introduction of our upgraded OpticalCon, we have fine-tuned our technology to
offer our consumers the ultimate in weatherproof connections,” said Jim Cowan,
president of Neutrik

USA.
“It is designed with all the features of the original, with the added IP65
rating for extreme, weatherproof durability.”

OpticalCon
increases the reliability and maximizes the uptime for fiber optic connection
systems. This new system is based on a standard optical LC-Duplex connection;
however, the OpticalCon improves this original design to ensure a safe and
rugged connection. It enables up to four copper wires to run power or data
signals through. A special SMPTE-version1 has been optimized for broadcast
applications, which provides an additional ground-shell contact.

In order
to create a simplified installation, one can connect a conventional LC-Duplex
connector on the rear, which causes the chassis connector to act as a
“feed-through.” The OpticalCon cable connector comes pre-assembled with a
choice of three mobile field cables, which can be ordered at almost any length.

The
OpticalCon features a rugged connection, all metal housing and heavy-duty cable
retention. OpticalCon uses conventional LC connectors, which are easy to clean,
and has a Push-Pull locking mechanism. In addition, the colored labeling plates
are included to identify the fiber mode.

Neutrik introduced
its EtherCon series for CAT6 cables

The
EtherCon CAT6 series offers a rugged patch cable solution, which includes a
metal housing for RJ45 cable connectors that protect the connector against
mechanical load. It is equipped with Neutrik’s chuck-type strain relief
with a separate push-pull locking mechanism, to avoid accidental
unplugging. The cable solution is available in custom lengths and the
receptacle will accept a standard RJ45 cable end in addition to the EtherCon
CAT6 patch cable.

“CAT6
cabling systems are now becoming the preferred standard in the audio industry,”
said Jim Cowan, president of Neutrik

USA. “With the same features
of the CAT5 cable and with the addition of extended bandwidth, it made sense
for Neutrik to add a CAT6 version to its EtherCon line to accommodate this
growing trend.”

The
EtherCon system was developed to meet the rising requirements of data volume,
transfer rate and bandwidth. It is perfectly suitable for Ethernet
applications, especially in harsh, demanding environments, such as live stage
production, DMX lighting, outdoor Internet access and industrial Ethernet.

Neutrik showcased
its DLX series of chassis connectors

The DLX
series is an enhanced version of Neutrik’s popular DL1 XLR chassis
connectors. An ideal match with Neutrik’s EMC XLR cable connector, the DLX
series features compact all metal housing, offering excellent RF protection and
electromagnetic shielding. Its innovative duplex ground contact provides
excellent contact integrity between chassis and cable connector, as well as the
option to solder chassis ground to pin1.

Neutrik’s
advanced DLX line also offers a male connector designed with a metal retention
bar for improved pull-out force. The series is available in 3 to 7 pole configurations
with gold or silver plated solder contacts and nickel or black metal housing.

“The new
line of DLX Chassis connectors incorporates features from our well proven and
reliable DL1 and B series connectors, creating a reliable and robust connector,”
said Jim Cowan, president of Neutrik USA. “At Neutrik, we continually
upgrade our products to cater to the changing needs of the audio industry.”

Neutrik introduced
color-coded SCDX Hinged Covers

Compatible
with all of the company’s D-Sized chassis connectors and receptacles, Neutrik’s
SCDX Hinged Covers protect D-size chassis connectors from water, dust and dirt
in the unmated condition.

The SCDX
offers a hinged protection solution for Neutrik’s unmated XLR connectors:
OpticalCon, SpeakOn, EtherCon, PowerCon, Phono and BNC, as well as USB and
FireWire product. When used with OpticalCon chassis connectors different fiber
modes can be distinguished when using the correct color SCDX cover; black
IP protection cover, indicating multimode; SCDX-5 – green IP protection cover,
indicating single mode APC; SCDX-6 – blue IP protection cover, indicating
single mode PC; and SCDX-9 – white IP protection cover, e.g. for wall mounts.

The hinged
cover provides water and dust resistant protection. Its snap fit ensures
that the receptacle is protected from most external sources. It also
features label space for quick identification.

“Neutrik’s
new color-coded covers offer quick identification while continuing to protect
our connectors in the unmated condition,” said Jim Cowan, president of Neutrik

USA. “The new
color-coded hinged D-sized cover is a natural addition to our line of accessory
products, as it prevents the external environment from affecting the way our
receptacle performs.”
