FSU players, coaches salute Billy Vizzini

By Ken Kerschbaumer

The Florida State University Seminoles paid tribute to video coordinator Billy Vizzini this past Saturday by wearing special “BV” decals on their helmets during their game against the University of Miami.

Vizzini, who is also vice president of the Collegiate Sports Video Association and a good friend and supporter of SVG, forging a relationship between the two organizations, is battling an aggressive form of cancer and is currently in hospice at the Big Bend Hospice in Tallahassee, Florida. The past few weeks have been filled with much love and support from his immediate family, friends, and fellow video coordinators from across the country.

Vizzini joined the FSU staff in 1994 following graduation from the school in 1993 (he was also a member of the support staff for former basketball coach Pat Kennedy). Since then he’s been editing game and practice film, preparing cut-ups for coaches review, and helping head coach Bobby Bowden and his staff prepare for the next big game.

FSU players have worn special decals on their helmets in the past to honor players, including offensive lineman Pablo Lopez in 1986 after he was killed outside an on-campus fraternity party. Michael Hendricks was remembered in 1991 after he died during an off-weekend.
