DNF Controls taps into Harris NEXIO XS Server

DNF Controls 2044CL Clip Instant Access Control System and Flex Control Network Ethernet-based machine control system now support the NEXIO XS server system from Harris Corporation. When used together, DNF Controls’ controllers and the NEXIO XS video server provide fast and repeatable playout control within the broadcast production environment.

“We work with industry-leading manufacturers to design and deliver precise, reliable, repeatable control systems for a broad range of broadcast applications,” says John Duggin, DNF Controls president. “The compatibility of our products with the Harris NEXIO XS server system represents our ongoing commitment to providing simple control solutions for sophisticated video storage and playout systems. With newly incorporated support for NEXIO systems, we give NEXIO XS users a production-oriented control solution that enhances the everyday utility and functionality of their server systems.”

DNF Controls products are designed to enhance point-to-point and point-to-multipoint control capabilities for greater efficiency in sports coverage, live entertainment, news, post-production, digital display, and other applications. The company’s products are installed in fixed and mobile installations to enable fast, accurate, and intuitive delivery of media during production and playout.

Flex Control Network is a powerful and flexible machine control solution for broadcast and production environments. It provides real-time, precise, and reliable machine control over Ethernet — LAN, WAN, VPN, and Internet. With Flex Control Network, users can add and change devices, control protocols, and control points whenever and wherever they want without disrupting their workflow. Flex Control Network lets users redistribute the broadcast or production workload at a moment’s notice to keep up with late-breaking news, equipment failure, and unexpected personnel changes or other events.

The 2044CL Clip Instant Access Control System gives the user 30 powerful buttons on the DNF Controls Shotbox for instant access to as many as 300 single clips or multiple-clip combinations on the NEXIO system. The Shotbox buttons give the user the power to merge prerecorded material with live production, harness the power of monitor walls and other display systems, and load and play news segments, graphics, animations, highlights, and promos. The 2044CL controls up to eight individually or ganged channels and allows users to read the name of the video clip directly on the Shotbox key, as well as assign and reassign clips to the Shotbox key quickly and easily. A capture feature allows ingest of clips from a source VTR into the NEXIO XS server.
