LG Action Sports Championships return with mass coverage

More than
125 of action sports’ biggest superstars will compete for the title of World
Champion when the LG Action Sports World Championships once again turns

Dallas’ Reunion Arena
into a Texas-sized skate park from November 9 – 11. In addition, hip-hop icons
Ludacris and Kanye West will perform live as the musical guests for LG’s
three-day action sports and entertainment extravaganza.

The
prestigious LG Action Sports World Championships is the culmination of the 2007
competition season for Skateboarding, BMX, Inline Skating and Freestyle
Motocross (FMX) pros and marks the fifth year that LG Electronics MobileComm

U.S.A., Inc (LG
Mobile Phones) has sponsored the event.

The
professional athletes qualify to compete at the World Championships based on
their results from a series of 22 qualifier events around the world.

With its
unparalleled field of athletes and comprehensive qualifying process, the LG
Action Sports World Championships is considered the annual “Super
Bowl” in the world of action sports, and with $650,000 up for grabs, it
represents the largest per-sport prize money in history.

“For
the last five years LG has been able to touch our consumers through some of the
most talented Action Sports athletes in the word,” said Ehtisham Rabbani,
vice president of product strategy & marketing. “We are proud to
continue this partnership and we look forward to this weekend’s
championships.”

“We
are delighted to partner once again with LG Mobile Phones to bring the world’s
top Action Sports athletes back to Dallas-Fort Worth,” said Rick Bratman,
President of ASA Entertainment, the company that produces the event. “In
the world of Action Sports, this is an event that really is as big as

Texas. Not only does it
offer more prize money and TV coverage than any other event, but it also has a
competitive vibe that encourages the athletes to try their craziest
tricks.”

In
addition to the over-the-top action and excitement of the competitions, the
event will feature a lineup of national recording artists performing live each
session. Record-breaking artist Kanye West, American Idol star Blake Lewis,
film star and hip-hop sensation Ludacris and alternative rock band Cartel will
each perform full sets on LG Mobile Phones Music Stage attached to the street
course.

Unlike
most other action sports events that are invitation-only contests, the LG
Action Sports World Championships is open to all athletes from around the world
with entry based solely on their collective performances and rankings from the
entire season.

Athletes
from 20 countries will compete at the event, including a host of X Games and
World Champions. Some of the industry’s superstars expected to participate
include Dave Mirra (USA), Bucky Lasek (USA), Bob Burnquist (BRA), Ryan Nyquist
(USA), Jamie Bestwick (UK), Sandro Dias (BRA), Pierre Luc Gagnon (CAN), Andy
MacDonald (USA), Rune Glifberg (DEN), Simon Tabron (UK), Ryan Guettler (AUS),
Kevin Robinson (USA), Chad Kagy (USA), Daniel Dhers (VEN), Fabiola da Silva
(BRA) and Takeshi Yasutoko (JAP).

This year’s LG Action Sports World Championships will
feature the largest television coverage of any event in action sports history,
with three hours of national television coverage on CBS, sixteen hours on Spike
TV, twenty-four hours on

Sportsnet

NY and twenty-five hours on Fuel
TV. Globally, the event will be seen in 180 countries on 22 networks that reach
more than 1.2 billion viewers. The CBS broadcasts will air on Sunday, November
18, from 5:00 – 6:00 PM (EST) immediately following NFL Football, on Saturday,
December 15, from 2:30 – 3:30 PM (EST) and on Saturday, December 22, from 2:00
– 3:00 PM (EST). The Spike TV broadcasts will air two hours weekly from
December 9 – February 1.

Other
weekend entertainment includes freestyle motocross exhibitions, video games, a
technology center, Internet stations, pro autograph signings and a festival
village. The LG Action Sports World Championships will also play host to
amateur competition in skateboarding and inline skating, with the top finishers
qualifying for the 2008 pro circuit.
