ITN extends Setanta Sports relationship

UK news organization ITN has extended its relationship with Setanta Sports by agreeing an exclusive worldwide deal to license footage from the Irish broadcaster’s recently launched news channel.

Setanta Sports News went on air at the end of November, with facilities and newsgathering provided by ITN. Under the deal the news broadcaster’s archive division, ITN Source, is handling sales of material broadcast on the channel.

A one month trial period is currently underway, allowing users to search, browse and buy material, downloading direct to desktop systems from ITN Source’s e-commerce portal.

ITN Source already holds footage of many great sporting events in its vaults and hopes the relationship with Setanta will only increase that. Asha Oberoi, content director of ITN Source, said, “Our partnership with Setanta Sports News will add to our current archive and will give our global customer base the ideal resource for the latest and best sports news and features content.”
