Turner Sports Promotes Janet Abbazia to Vice President of Event Marketing

Turner
Sports announced the promotion of Janet Abbazia to vice president of event
marketing, where she will continue to have oversight of all event marketing and
hospitality efforts for the organization. Abbazia is based in

Atlanta
and reports to Trish Frohman, executive vice president of Turner Sports Ad
Sales.

Previously,
Abbazia was director of event marketing for Turner Sports. In her
four-year tenure with Turner Sports, she has re-branded and
grown the group to support not only Turner Sports events, but also
the planning of events for a myriad of Turner Broadcasting divisions
including CNN, Cartoon Network, TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies. Due
to Abbazia’s vision, within the past four years the number of
events per year planned by the event marketing group has tripled, with her
staff doubling in size. Among the many events coordinated within the
group, Abbazia is responsible for Turner-hosted events during the
annual NBA All-Star Weekend, British Open Championship, Comedy Festival in

Las Vegas and
the Sundance Film Festival in

Park
City,

Utah.

“Janet’s
insight, experience, creativity and service-oriented style continue to prove a
valuable resource to Turner Sports as well as the many divisions her group
supports,” said Frohman. “She is a proven asset to all of
Turner and I’m pleased to announce her well-deserved promotion
to vice president.”

Prior
to joining Turner Broadcasting, Abbazia was a senior events manager for America
Online and also spent three years as vice president of Bandujo Donker &
Brothers. In addition, she served as the corporate sponsorship director
for Bell Atlantic, as well as a national program manager for AT&T’s
Business Markets Division. Throughout her career, Abbazia has received
numerous awards for her work, namely a BMA (Business Marketing
Association) of New Jersey Impact Award, Communicator Awards’ Crystal
Award of Excellence and a Casie Award for Sponsorship Web Site.

Abbazia
received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from the

University
of

South Carolina and a
master’s degree in corporate and organizational communications from

Fairleigh

Dickinson

University.
