Former Leafs GM John Ferguson Jr. Joins NHL on TSN as Guest Analyst

With three weeks to go until the NHL Trade Deadline, TSN announced
it has acquired John Ferguson Jr. as a guest analyst for the NHL on TSN and TradeCentre
08, marking the former Toronto Maple Leafs GM’s debut as a television analyst.

“I made many trades over 10 deadlines in management with St. Louis and Toronto,”
Ferguson says. “I look
forward to plying a new trade with TSN this deadline.”
Ferguson
will be making three guest appearances on TSN in the coming weeks:
On February 13, Ferguson will be alongside NHL on TSN host James Duthie
during the second intermission of the marquee Wednesday Night Hockey game
featuring
Toronto
@ Buffalo at 7:30 p.m. ET.

On February 20, Ferguson will
also be in-studio for the NHL on TSN pre-game show at 8 p.m. ET featuring Calgary @ Dallas, as Hockey Insiders Bob McKenzie and
Darren Dreger provide updates from the GM meetings in
Florida.

On February 26,
Ferguson
joins TSN’s TradeCentre 08, beginning at 10 a.m. ET, as he teams up with ex-New
York Islanders GM Mike Milbury in the ‘GM’s Corner’ during the network’s
wall-to-wall coverage of NHL Trade Deadline Day.
Ferguson
became the 12th general manager in Toronto Maple Leafs history when he took
over from Pat Quinn in 2003. He spent five seasons with the Leafs and was
also a member of Team Canada’s
management team at the 2007 IIHF World Championship in Russia, where
Canada went undefeated and won
gold.
Ferguson
was relieved of his duties by the Leafs in January and was replaced by interim
GM Cliff Fletcher. He is now a scout for Team Canada’s
entry in the upcoming 2008 IIHF World Championship in Halifax and
Quebec City.
Prior to joining the Leafs,
Ferguson spent five seasons as assistant
general manager of the St. Louis Blues before being promoted to vice-president
and director of hockey operations for the organization in 2001. He was
also drafted by the Montreal Canadiens in the 1985 NHL Entry Draft and played
four seasons in the AHL with the Fredericton Canadiens.
