QuStream Cheetah adds new spots at NAB

QuStream will bring four new video interface modules for QuStream’s Cheetah range of routers and new Integrity 600 signal processing and distribution modules. to the NAB convention in April.

The QuStream CH-ADSDI-IN is a video input card with composite A to D decoder input. A direct replacement for the standard input card, it fits the same input slot and provides 16 independent channels. Features include genlock synchronization of all inputs to external reference, proc amp control of each individual input, and high quality A to D conversion with Quadracomb technology.

Also new is the CH-INPUT-3GB-BNC, a video input card with 16 individual source channels accepting up to 3 Gbit/s in a standard input card slot. An additional option slot can be fitted to permit further expansion. The module can be mixed and matched with other input cards.

QuStream’s CH-OUTPUT-3GB-BNC is a multi-bitrate video output card operating at up to 3 Gbit/s. It delivers up to 16 individual outputs from a standard output card slot. An additional option slot can be fitted to permit further expansion. The CH-OUTPUT-3GB-BNC can be mixed and matched with other input cards.

The company also will introduce the CH-HDSDI-OUT-BNC, a video output card with integral HD to SD downconversion. A direct replacement for the standard output card, it fits the same output slot and provides 16 independent channels. Features include high quality de-interlacing downconversion with genlock sync and individual output timing control. The CH-HDSDI-OUT-BNC supports 16:9 to 4:3; letterbox and center-cut aspect ratio conversion.

QuStream will also introduce new Integrity 600 signal processing and distribution modules. Based on the FRM603 high-speed chassis, Integrity 600 offers high component density and high-level redundancy. Features include redundant power supply and optional redundant control plus reference board for two power busses, two Ethernet busses and two reference signals to every card in the system. Also two sets of fans with individual tachometers for early warning of potential fan failure.

The Integrity 600 FRM603 chassis accommodates up to 20 signal processing cards in addition to the control/genlock boards, enabling higher density and reducing system cost. The midplane is unique with 3 Gbit/s signal busses between two Star slots and all other boards as well as between adjacent boards. The Star board slots permit full bandwidth system integration through CWDM fiber or other transmission standards. All boards including video and audio DAs can receive or send signals to other boards via the midplane. This makes the Integrity 600 exceptionally powerful for processing, conversion and distribution.

Other additions include:

MUX643 and 683 HD/SD embedders: The MUX643 processes and reclocks 270 MHz to 3G inputs and can embed four AES/Dolby E. inputs. The MUX683 provides the same features plus the ability to embed and processes eight AES/Dolby E inputs.

DMX614 and DMX618 HD/SD de-embedders: Processes and reclocks 270 MHz to 3G inputs. Extracts and processes four AES/Dolby E channels (DMX614) or eight AES/Dolby E channels (DMX618).

MDX644 HD/SD mux/demux: Processes and reclocks 270 MHz to 3G inputs. De-embeds and processes four AES/Dolby E. Embeds four AES/Dolby E inputs.

UDC650/651 up/down/cross-converter: A module incorporating a separate SD down-converter with motion-adaptive deinterlacing, 12-bit composite encoder for broadcast quality NTSC or PAL outputs, separate synchronizer for SD/composite outputs, high quality noise reduction and image enhancement, optional Legalizer and Color Corrector with multiple memory settings, and optional bidirectional mode for simultaneous up/cross and down conversion from different inputs.

FS616-A frame synchronizer with embedding: The FS616-A performs A-to-D conversion using QuStream’s QuadraComb technology. Features include SD or HD synchronization from 270 MHz to 3Gbit/s, two AES/Dolby E inputs and four analog audio channels for embedding, full processing, synchronization and timing offset of all 8 embedded AES pairs, Dolby E embedding and extraction with synchronization and offset timing and composite analog and embedded SDI outputs. Noise reducer, color corrector and legalizer are available as options.
