Digital Rapids Broadcast Manager 1.2 at NAB Show

Digital Rapids has begun shipping version 1.2 of the Digital
Rapids Broadcast Manager live encoder management software, featuring a new
graphical scheduling interface and a comprehensive Web Services API for
integrating Broadcast Manager into third-party applications.
Digital Rapids Broadcast Manager provides enterprise-level
management and control for multiple live streaming encoders. Supporting Digital
Rapids’ acclaimed StreamZ and StreamZ Live encoding systems, Broadcast Manager
simplifies operation with centralized scheduling, remote control and individual
and group resource management, while bolstering reliability with automated
failover and alerts. Failover management provides fault tolerance by automatically
bringing backup systems online, while “self-healing” attempts to
resolve problems directly on failed systems.
Version 1.2 extends the scheduling capabilities of Broadcast
Manager with a new graphical interface, providing an at-a-glance visual representation
of scheduled tasks and enabling easy identification of scheduling gaps and
conflicts. Individual or groups of encoders can be started, stopped, or taken
offline (such as for maintenance) at scheduled times, with the flexibility of
using of a different set of encoding parameters (including different
compression formats) for each scheduled task if desired.
The new Web Services interface enables developers to
directly integrate Broadcast Manager into their own custom applications and
management systems through an easy-to-use SOAP XML-based SDK. All Broadcast
Manager capabilities — from scheduling tasks to monitoring the status of
encoders — are accessible through the Web Services interface.
“Broadcast Manager deployments are in use around the
clock and across the globe, bolstering the reliability of live streaming
applications from IPTV channels to webcasts, while significantly simplifying
operations,” said Brick Eksten, President of Digital Rapids Corporation.
“The new visual scheduling interface in version 1.2 makes controlling
multiple encoders even easier, while the Web Services interface lets customers
integrate Broadcast Manager even more tightly into their own custom facility
and enterprise management systems.
The complete line of Digital Rapids products will be
showcased at the NAB Show 2008 in booth number SL8724, April 14-17 in
Las Vegas.
