NVision offers more router in less racks, new master control at NAB

By Andrew Lippe

NVision heads to NAB with the new NV5100MC master control switching systems, and a large-matrix router product line, based on their master control technology platform and router technology platform. Along with master control there will be announcements on extended technology and functionality for the NV9000 router control system, compact router series, and Synapse modular broadcast systems.

“We put great effort into designing platforms,” says Jay Kuca, Nvision’s director of product management. “We think this approach is good for us and our customers because rather then just be reactive we take a look at the technology landscape and we look down the road.”

The NV5100MC product line enables broadcasters to customize a powerful master control system to fit their facility’s current needs and budget, then easily and cost-effectively add or upgrade features and functionality as requirements change. “We wanted to make sure there was an HD/SD path available on all products on the line,” adds Kuca. The new product is upgradeable and flexible.”

An important advantage for broadcasters is Nvision’s unique Full-Video Preview. When added to the system, the Full-Video Preview provides an independent processing channel to preview video sources, keys, logos, and squeezeback effects. This independent preview bus allows the master control operator a means to look at video sources and effects without the concern of automated transitions occurring on the program or preset bus.

The NV5100 Series extends the life of broadcast facilities current master control system, by staying updated with current with technologies, features and formats. It is capable of managing the most complex multi-channel broadcast facility.

Many networks and sport franchises are focusing on distribution of content. Many of these broadcasting networks are relying on Nvision master control systems including NFL Network (Super Bowl XLII), and Turner Broadcasting Systems.

Nvision will also introduce a new generation of large-matrix multi-format routers with increased system features and twice the density as two frames replace what has traditionally required four. Customers are able to extend the router’s capabilities in the field without the use of splitters or combiners. It also enables users to manage up to 1152×1152 signals using a non-blocking architecture that provides a router access to any source from any destination in the facility.

The proven implementation of 3Gb/s in Nvision routers provides less jitter, decreased rise and fall times; and improved signal integrity.

Nvision will showcase the new NV9000 is the ultimate system for router control for any broadcast facility, controlling up to 250 routers, 400 control panels, and up to 250 physical and 512 virtual levels. Combine two NV9000 system controllers to build a fully redundant control system.

Nvision is also announcing new, advanced control-panel upgrades, which simplify user operations and offer increased system functionality.
