The University of Texas Upgrades Facilities with Daktronics Displays

Daktronics Inc. has designed, manufactured and installed new
integrated video, scoring, and timing systems at The University of Texas at
Austin (UT). Texas has upgraded the Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swimming
Center and the
Penick-Allison Tennis
Center with multiple
Daktronics video displays and message centers that will allow spectators and
participants to see up to the second video and statistical information.
Both facilities are home to UT Athletics varsity men’s and
women’s teams, UT Recreational Sports programming activities for UT students, faculty
and staff, and sports activity classes conducted by the UT Department of
Kinesiology. The
Jamail
Texas Swimming
Center also houses the
University’s club program, Longhorn Aquatics. UT Athletics funded the upgrades.

]Both new video displays in the
Jamail Texas
Swimming Center
utilize Daktronics light emitting diode (LED) technology. The larger of the two
screens measures almost 25 feet wide by 10 feet high. The other board is
approximately 18 feet wide by 9 feet high. Each of the new displays feature
custom truss accents above the video screens, proudly displaying the burnt
orange Texas Longhorns logo and name.

Daktronics is also upgrading the swim timing systems in the
Jamail Texas
Swimming Center.
New Relay Take Off Platforms (RTOP) make the facility one of the most
technologically advanced aquatics centers in the nation. New OmniSport 2000
timing consoles, T-6000 series touchpads and wireless diving judges’ consoles
have also been installed as part of this large-scale renovation.

“The aquatics installation has been very
extensive,” said Dan Fjeldheim, Daktronics Sales. “It is very unique
because of the two video displays we have installed. Along with the aquatics
project, the tennis facility is a major installation for Daktronics. In the
tennis facility, there is a full matrix display along with 12 auxiliary
scoreboards.”

The 12 TN-2604 scoreboards installed for every court are 3
feet, 6 inches tall and 9 feet wide. These displays utilize Daktronics proven LED
technology, providing benefits to spectators and participants at
Penick-Allison Tennis Center.
