DSI chooses QuStream routers for Korean HD production and presentation center

QuStream
Corporation has received a major order for video and audio routing equipment to
be installed at a new HD production and presentation center in
South Korea.
The contract was placed by Diversified Systems, recently acclaimed as one of
the top five broadcast systems integrators in the
USA.

“The new center will form part of the main conference facilities at the
Samsung Group headquarters in the capital city,
Seoul,” explains Kevin Collins,
Diversified Systems’ COO. “A key requirement was the ability to distribute
multiple HD and DVI sources throughout the facility and allow Samsung
subsidiaries in various parts of the world to view shared content at HD
resolutions. A critical requirement was the ability to maintain the highest
resolution at all points in the system. The distance limitations of traditional
Dual Link DVI cables being short at about 15 ft maximum length created design
challenges. Qustream’s solution allowed us to route full resolution HD and DVI
plus stereo analog audio without incurring any significant distance
limitations. Another important benefit was the scalability of QuStream
equipment which will allow the routing infrastructure to be expanded easily as
and when required. We installed a router from QuStream’s PESA range for Samsung
in 2005 and it has performed well.”

“This new multi-million dollar installation is an outstanding example of
the way in which full broadcast-quality HD television is being harnessed by
international companies to provide corporate communication and training for
their overseas divisions,” adds Karlton Burn, QuStream’s Vice President of
Global Sales & Marketing. “The expanded router installation consists
of two QuStream Cheetah 128NE frames, one Jaguar 64 X 64 stereo audio matrix
and a Cougar 32 x 32 Stereo Audio Matrix. One of the two Cheetah 128NE frames
will be configured as 64 X 64HD W/ 32 SFP fiber in with 32SFP fiber out. The
second 128NE frame will comprise 80 X 80HD W/ 80 SFP Fiber in and 80SFP Fiber
Out. A full set of accessories and spares will be provided for all four
matrices.”

QuStream’s Cheetah V5-DVI modules are used to terminate the HD and DVI video
and stereo audio throughout the facility. Construction of the new system is
currently in progress, scheduled for completion in September 2008.
