B&C: NAB’s Rehr on White Space devices…prove it works

Broadcasting & Cable magazine snagged an interview with NAB head David Rehr for a discussion of a wide range of issues, including indecency, the DTV transition, and, of course, White Spaces. “We have had two Microsoft
devices, both of which failed,” said Rehr of the White Spaces devices submitted to the FCC. “We have a couple of devices sitting over
there in the labs [at the FCC] that don’t seem to work. What happens
when you put these things in production and people are dropping them on
the ground, and what’s the consequence to all this? The consequence is
that it will freeze people’s televisions, except that we won’t know who
