Linear Acoustic to Address DTV Audio Misconceptions With Nationwide “Myth Busters Tour”

Linear Acoustic launched
of the “DTV Audio Myth Busters Tour,” a nationwide tour during which
the company’s audio experts will address common misconceptions about the role
of audio processing as broadcast stations make the DTV transition.

“Broadcast stations
without sufficient audio processing capabilities are being overwhelmed by
viewer complaints about the quality of DTV audio,” said Tim Carroll,
president and founder of Linear Acoustic. “It’s not enough just to address
loudness issues; maintaining a satisfied viewer base requires an efficient and
effective solution for handling all key aspects of audio. We’re using this tour
to bust myths about working with DTV audio and to demonstrate comprehensive yet
easy-to-use solutions that allow broadcasters to provide the superior audio
experience that DTV viewers demand.”

Among the myths that the
“Myth Busters Tour” will address are the notions that DTV audio
processing is unnecessary and that outdated radio equipment or recording studio
gear can meet the needs of DTV. By presenting highly integrated professional
processing solutions, Linear Acoustic will also challenge the myth that many
different boxes are required to handle audio, metadata, and encoding. The
company’s experience in developing complete audio processing solutions is
unparalleled, and its DTV-specific audio products are used in the delivery of
more DTV channels than all other products combined.

The tour, which commences
in Ohio, June 17 in Cleveland
and June 19 in Columbus,
will be presented in those cities at local Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE)
chapter meetings. For location information, future tours dates, or to book a
