Mira Rolls Out Third HD Mobile Unit

Mira
Mobile Television is set to roll out a brand new 53-foot HD expando,
designated M7HD, in late July 2008, marking the third HD truck MIRA has constructed since 2005. Designed to serve MIRA’s core business
segment, regional/national network sports and corporate productions, M7HD will
have the most extensive technical core of any HD truck in MIRA’s fleet.
“M7HD is a very different build for MIRA than
our previous two HD trucks,” points out Frank Taylor,
MIRA’s General Manager. “The majority of
our fleet was purpose-built to fit a specific client contract. M7HD is the first HD truck we have designed
to fit the broad spectrum of client needs in the national marketplace. We are very excited about the opportunity to
serve this client base.”
At the heart of M7HD is a Pesa Cheetah 288×576
HD video router with a 256×256 AES and analog audio router. Audio will be handled by a Calrec Sigma audio
desk with Bluefin DSP Processing. The Sigma
is configured with 104 mono channels and 104 stereo channels with both Dolby
and SRS processing. Video monitoring
throughout the truck will be accomplished through Evertz VIP multi-image flat
screen displays.
As with
MIRA’s two previous HD trucks, M7HD will carry Sony 1550 1080p HD cameras. The truck is wired for 16 cameras and will
travel with 10 cameras on-board (7 hard, 3 handheld). Fujinon will supply the HD lenses. The lens compliment will be one 101×8.9 and
six 88×8.8 stabilized lenses. Handhelds
will all be 22×7.8 lenses along with two 13×4.5 wide angle lenses.
Media
storage in M7HD will be provided primarily by EVS servers and RO’s. A 6 channel and a 4 channel EVS HD LSM XT (2)
will be on-board, as well as two EVS RO’s and a Spotbox or third RO. All EVS systems will be networked and can be accessed
by the EVS X-File archive station.
The
centerpiece of the production area will be a Grass Valley Kalypso HD switcher
with 90 inputs, 48 outputs, and 6 transform engines as well as a 118 monitor production
wall spread across 34 LCD displays.
