Token Creek Upgrades to HD with QuStream Integrity and Cheetah

QuStream
Corporation has received a major order from Token Creek
Mobile Television for Cheetah Routing and Integrity-series signal
processing equipment. Based in Wisconsin, Token Creek serves a client base from
the Atlantic coast all the way across to the
Pacific. One of the Midwest’s most dynamic mobile-production companies, Token
Creek runs a fleet of three high-performance digital production trucks
including a 53-foot expandable equipped for live multi-camera 1080p, 1080i,
720p and SD.

“We are a long-time user of QuStream’s Cheetah routers and Integrity
signal processing,” explains John Salzwedel, president of Token Creek Mobile
Television. “These new QuStream products form part of an upgrade of our
Hiawatha truck from SD to HD. Our existing Cheetah was originally populated with a large number of SD cards and the router’s
architecture allows us simply to replace these with HD cards instead of having to do a total chassis swap
– which was a huge time and money saver for us. We purchased the Cheetah
back in 2004 with the intent of upgrading it to HD and QuStream’s design
flexibility has really paid off.”

Token Creek’s upgrade provides for full HD routing of 128 inputs and 208
outputs in the truck’s existing Cheetah 256CX frame. The upgrade
also includes the addition of a 128×128 DRS-series AES and analog distributed
audio routing system. Traditional audio routers are centralized in a
conventional chassis with all wiring going to and from the router chassis.
QuStream’s DRS is designed to be distributed throughout a facility in multiple
1 RU chassis. Each DRS I/O chassis can support up to 128 independent audio
channels in AES or Analog or 64 for Timecode. The distributed system
architecture allows inputs or outputs to be independently in line with
expanding operational requirements. The truck’s signal-processing capability
was also upgraded with the addition of Integrity-series Up/Down/Cross
converters and HD Frame Synchronizers. The PERC2000 IP-based router
controllers which allows easy management of tielines, matrix mapping and
cross-point configuration salvos was also provided in the upgrade.
