Olympic trials feature Daktronics boards

The University
of Oregon purchased a new light
emitting diode (LED) video and scoring system and custom sound system for
Hayward Field, designed and manufactured by Daktronics . The LED video display is one of the largest permanent
installations at a track and field dedicated stadium. Hayward Field will host
the U.S. Olympic Trials June 27 through July 6 for the fourth time.
The video display is approximately 17 feet high by 30 feet wide
with pixels on 23 millimeter spacing. The
overall sign is a curved structure 60 feet tall and includes LED accent
lighting that highlights a seven-foot Nike Swoosh allowing for color and
background changes.
“We’ve
been very happy with the performance of the video display and sound system. The
clarity and graphics have been impressive,” said Steve McBride, Associate
Athletic Director for the University
of Oregon. “The entire
Daktronics team did a fantastic job with the installation to ensure a seamless
transition from the old display to the new technology.”
A custom Sportsound sound system designed and manufactured for Hayward Field adds to the
information provided on new LED video screen. The system provides excellent
sound projection, delivers clear and intelligible speech, and makes for a
powerful audio experience for spectators. As a division of Daktronics,
Sportsound offers high-quality audio systems that can integrate with dynamic
displays in indoor and outdoor sport venues. The new integrated video display
and sound system are operated with proven Daktronics control components.
