College World Series Most-Viewed Ever on ESPN and ESPN2

ESPN and ESPN2’s complete coverage of
the College World Series was the most-viewed ever on both networks,
highlighted by ESPN’s second most-viewed college baseball game ever and
double-digit audience increases on ESPN.
ESPN averaged 1,091,000 households for
nine games, based on a 1.1 rating, and 1,408,000 total viewers (P2+),
marking double-digit increases over 2007’s five telecasts: 27% in
households (vs. 859,000), 22% in rating (vs. 0.9) and 26% in total
viewers (vs. 1,120,000). In addition to being the most-viewed, this
year’s coverage ties for the highest-rated with 2004 and 2006 coverage.
ESPN’s coverage of Game 3 from the
best-of-three College World Series Finals was the network’s second
most-viewed and second-highest-rated college baseball telecast ever. The game, featuring Fresno State defeating Georgia for the
Championship, averaged 1,897,000 households and a 2.0 rating. ESPN’s
top telecast averaged 1,979,000 households and a 2.2 rating for North
Carolina vs. Oregon State in a deciding third game on June 26, 2006.
ESPN2 averaged 771,000 households for
seven telecasts, based on a 0.8 rating, and 988,000 total viewers for
an increase of 3% in households (vs. 747,000) and total viewers (vs.
956,000) over last year’s 10 games (the rating equals last year’s 0.8).
