Miranda multiviewers drive TV24 Poland

By Kevin Hilton
Polish 24-hour television news
station TV24 has installed two multi-screen viewers in the control room
of its broadcast center in Warsaw. Going on air in August 2001, the broadcaster
was Poland’s first round-the-clock news service, presenting general
news, sport, business and entertainment in regular bulletins and scheduled
magazine programs.
TV24’s various outputs are
now monitored on two Miranda Technologies Kaleido-X multiple image displays.
One has been set up to show 64 inputs on a total of eight screens that
are a mixture of 40-inch and 57-inch LCDs, while the other handles 48
inputs on four LCD screens. As well as showing broadcast material the
units also display tallies, audio meters, signal loss alerts and clocks.

Individual outputs on each
Kaleido-X have their own control features, with on-screen menus giving
operators options to alter aspect ratios, check safe areas, route inputs
and change UMD text. TV24’s director of engineering, Jan Jedrzejczyk,
comments, “Set-up and configuration have been very simple. A source
only needs to be connected once for it to appear on every one of our
LCD screens.”
