Beijing Olympic Committee Selects mInfo as Mobile Search Provider

mInfo
Inc., a provider in Chinese mobile search and pull-advertising, has been chosen
by the Beijing
Organizing Committee of the Olympic Games (BOCOG) as the designated mobile
search provider for the official mobile internet site of the 2008 Games.
Chinese and international visitors to the Games can easily find real-time
results on a variety of Olympic information in Simplified or Traditional
Chinese, and English using this service.
mInfo,
which was selected as the official Olympics mobile search provider from among a
long list of potential candidates, was chosen due to its superior technical
capabilities and a proven track record of successfully delivering the leading
Chinese and English mobile search service in China. mInfo’s search platform has been
available in China
for over three years and is the only one in the country that supports natural language
queries. This means it allows users to find answers by simply submitting
questions to the service instead of entering basic keywords and receiving
hundreds of potentially related links.
The
official Olympic mobile site and search service went live in late June and is
already receiving significant daily visitor traffic now, over a month before
the start of the Games. By visiting wap.beijing2008.cn, mobile users can
instantly find a range of information including event schedules, real-time
scores, venue information, news, and athlete profiles by simply inputting their
query in the search box on the homepage.
“mInfo
is extremely honored to have been chosen by BOCOG to take on the important
responsibility of powering search for the official mobile site of the 2008
Olympics,” said mInfo CEO Alvin Wang Graylin. “We are proud to be able
to contribute to this historic event. The release of this service is particularly
satisfying to mInfo, as our Chengdu
development team was the core group behind its development, and had to overcome
extraordinary challenges to release the service on time, given the devastation
caused by the recent earthquakes in the region.”
