Ross Video Certifies Euphonix Audio Integration
Video has integrated with Euphonix consoles. The certification of Euphonix
consoles with Ross was implemented by the release of the Ross Audio Protocol (RAP). This
integration means Euphonix System 5-B, System 5-BP and Max Air audio mixer
consoles can be managed from any Ross Video Vision QMD/X, Vision MD/X or
Synergy MD production switcher.
“The convenience and power of Ross switchers continues to increase with every
partner that implements support for RAP,” said David Ross, CEO. “The addition
of a leading manufacturer of large format digital audio mixing consoles such as
Euphonix demonstrates the value of the protocol as well as increases the
operational productivity of our joint customers.”
Using the Protocol, operators of Ross switchers can execute functions such as
setting Euphonix fader level, turn fader on/off; set pan position, pre-fade
listen (PFL) on/off and solo on/off. RAP integration is available in all latest
release Euphonix System 5-B, System 5-BP and Max Air consoles. This optional
software upgrade requires no additional hardware and enables external control
of all channel faders, on/off switches, pans, and PFL. The feature can be
enabled or disabled locally on the fly to allow seamless transitions between
audio-follow-video functionality and manual operation.
In some environments, audio-follow-video is used to complement an audio operator.
Transitions and set show segments are automated while an audio operator is
required to mix complex segments such as live bands. Through Euphonix’s
flexible control surface architecture, channels that have been designated for
control by Ross switchers may be hidden from the surface. An audio operator
therefore has access to all console faders while the video production switcher
simultaneously controls other console resources in the background.
“Ross has tested and validated all aspects of the Euphonix implementation of
RAP,” said David Ross. “We know that this integration will be greatly
appreciated by many existing and future customers.”
