Panasonic P2 HD Equipment Captures the Passion of the First HD Olympics

From U.S. Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps s eight Gold Medal wins to Jamaica s dominance on the track, all of the events ups and downs at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games were captured for the first time in high-definition with Panasonic broadcast equipment, including the popular solid-state P2 HD series, DVCPRO VTRs, systems cameras, and production monitors.
Beijing 2008 was produced entirely in the Full High-Definition standard (1080/50i), making Beijing the First HD Olympic Games.
Working with The International Olympic Committee (IOC), The Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), and Beijing Olympic Broadcasting (BOB), Panasonic provided more than 100 camcorders, including solid-state P2 HD AJ-HPX3000 and AJ-HPX2000 2/3-in. 3-CCD models; 250 mobile and studio P2 HD recorders, including the AJ-HPM110 P2 Mobile; and about 1,500 production LCD monitors. The equipment was used by the International Broadcasting Center (IBC) and other broadcasters as the official broadcasting equipment for Beijing 2008.
Panasonic supplied broadcasting equipment and service support to the host broadcaster for Barcelona 92, Atlanta 96, Nagano 98, Sydney 00, Salt Lake City 02, Athens 04, and Torino 06. This year marked the eighth consecutive Olympiad for which Panasonic has provided equipment in the official recording format.
