Job Opening: iPhone developer
/ESPN
Location: Bristol, CT

Experience:
The candidate should have a BS, BA, or advanced degree in computer science,
engineering, or related field or relevant work experience. At least 3 years of
mobile-development experience with 1+ years Cocoa Touch/iPhone development or
Cocoa experience is also required.
Candidates
should also be familiar with related technologies, including supported video,
audio, and networking protocols for the iPhone. The ideal candidate will be
familiar with other mobile platforms, e.g. Android, Windows Mobile, the
Blackberry SDK, Brew, or J2ME. Familiarity with building Web applications is
also very helpful.

Summary:
The position requires specific knowledge of the iPhone development platform for
both Web-based and native (Cocoa Touch) applications, along with a broad
understanding of similar platforms and relevant mobile technologies, e.g. SMS
protocols.

Systems Support Group (PSSG). This group is responsible for the maintenance,
administration, and support of all Production Systems & Information Technology.

Center and the L.A. Live complex.

Experience:
Skills include, typically, 7 or more years of IT experience, with at least 3
years in people supervision, and a bachelor’s degree in computer science or
similar field of study. Applicants also need a solid knowledge of typical user
needs and existing application systems and in-depth knowledge of network and
computing technologies and how they impact systems and network.

Summary:
The managerial responsibilities of this role will involve guiding the efforts
of two on-site systems administrators while working closely with other members
of the Bristol, CT-based Information Technology group. The associate director
will need to place strong emphasis on knowledge development and cross-training
among the on-site systems administrators. In this way, the L.A. facility will
maintain expert knowledge but benefit from the efficiencies of a combined support
effort that includes IT as well as some aspects of television engineering.
Responsibilities
include:
The general scope of responsibilities for the associate director includes
directing and planning the installation, administration and configuration of
servers and technologies, including high availability and disaster-recovery
mechanisms for the L.A. facility in conjunction with ESPN’s Connecticut-based
IT headquarters. Also expect to plan and supervise the implementation and
ongoing administration of leading-edge technologies relevant to the operational
departments.
