UEFA Champions League Final Scores for ESPN, ESPN Deportes

Barcelona’s 2-0 shutout of Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League final Wednesday wasn’t a blank for ESPN or ESPN Deportes, as the match was the highest-rated and most-watched UEFA telecast in cable-television history, averaging more than 1 million homes.

The contest was also the most-watched telecast ever for Spanish-language ESPN Deportes, which averaged almost 500,000 Hispanic homes.

The previous Champions League final—in which Manchester United defeated Chelsea on penalty kicks—averaged 798,000 homes and 1,097,000 viewers on ESPN2.

ESPN’s Internet properties also prospered, with ESPNDeportes.com experiencing a record day with more than 920,000 visits, up 27% versus the day of last year’s final, and ESPNsoccernet.com visits up 15% to 1.5 million.
