Front Porch Digital Takes on CNN Chile Asset Management

CNN Chile is currently utilizing Front Porch Digital’s DIVArchive and DivAdirector systems to manage, transfer, secure, and organize its sizable amount of video clips.  The Santiago-based news channel was launched in Dec. 2008 and is Chile’s first 24-7 news broadcaster.

Due to CNN Chile’s round-the-clock format, several versions of the same news story are produced each day while clips from important news stories must be available at a moment’s notice when further developments surface. Front Porch Digital’s DIVArchive and DIVAdirector systems allow CNN Chile editors to find, retrieve, and edit content easily in a familiar AVID environment.

DIVArchive manages, moves, and secures digital media content throughout its lifecycle, from ingest to long-term preservation, whether it’s stored on disk or data tape. The system also transfers each day’s new content to the archive at the close of each 24-hour cycle and automatically creates proxy versions of clips so they will be quickly available to editors and producers.

DIVAdirector tracks video clips in the storage system, allowing users to easily browse content, create frame-accurate shot lists, and access a flexible asset metadata model.
