It’s a New GamePlan for Coaching Analysis

College and high school football teams have a new end-to-end coaching-analysis option, courtesy of a system from GamePlan and available through CoachComm that relies on Panasonic HD cameras.

“We have some workflows for Panasonic AVC HD and P2 DVCPRO 100 for sports that are very compelling,” says GamePlan Technologies CEO Dave Glover. “With our standardization of HD material in MPEG-4 HD, we can take both SD and HD media and create a full coaching playback and editing system that can exchange ready media and data.”

The system is designed to allow staffers to archive and automatically distribute HD video without having to purchase and maintain expensive servers. Users can also manage multiple file formats: PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, Excel, video formats, playbook files, and more.

Football programs at Boston College, Ohio University, Central Michigan, and Michigan are among those already using the system.

“We are capturing, compressing, and sharing our practices in far less time than ever before and with fewer mistakes,” says Bill Toof, video director for Boston College football. “The MPEG-4 option allows us to load incredible numbers of games on a standard laptop with no additional external drives.”

For example, not only can the coaches load up video they are studying for a current opponent, but they can also store video for teams they are playing later in the season.
