Avid Receives Visionary Award at Storage Visions Conference

Avid was honored with the Visionary Media and Entertainment Company award at the 2010 Storage Visions Conference earlier this month at a ceremony in Las Vegas. Avid received the award for its long history of innovation in the field of shared storage.

The Storage Visions Awards honor visionary products and companies advancing storage technologies and the digital content value chain. The Company Visionary award is presented to organizations in four categories– mobile consumer electronics, home consumer electronics, media and entertainment, and services and support – that have shown extraordinary dedication in advancing the state of the art in storage technologies.

In 1995, Avid introduced Avid MediaShare followed by the release of Avid Unity Media Network (Unity Medianet) in 1999 – the first solution in the Avid Unity storage family, and the first solution to offer true network-based collaboration to the world of digital media production. Avid moved forward with the the concept of virtualized storage with the introduction of Avid Unity ISIS, which consolidates multiple islands of storage into a single high capacity, highly scalable, and open system. Avid Unity MediaNetwork currently has more than 6000 installations worldwide, and Avid Unity ISIS has shipped 20+ Petabytes of data to more than 650 installations.
