House Committee Approves Spectrum Evaluation Bills

The House Communications Subcommittee has approved two bills by voice vote that would help the government get a better idea of who is using spectrum and how effectively.

The Radio Spectrum Inventory Act (HR 3125) and the Spectrum Relocation Improvement Act (HR 3019) will require the FCC and National Telecommunications & Information Administration to identify how much spectrum federal entities, broadcasters, and satellite operators are using.  Broadcasting & Cable reports that the two organizations will be required to come up with a report to Congress in two years with recommendations concerning who, if anyone, should give up spectrum.
