Obituary: Doug Clark, Mobile TV Group, director of operations

Doug Clark, Mobile TV Group’s Director of Operations, passed away on January 11 following a long battle with cancer.  As recently as two weeks prior he was still at work providing the outstanding level of service for which he was so well known in the mobile facilities community. He was 60 years old.
Born in Oak Lawn, IL in 1949, Clark had a multi-faced career before entering the mobile unit business. In the 1970s he was well known in the music business for, “Doug Clark Presents” in Phoenix, Arizona. He joined MTVG in 1996 and played a key role in growing the company from two units to twenty-four.
Clark scheduled mobile units for thousands of sports events per year and was known for responding to requests at all hours of the day or night.  He also developed computer systems that gave clients, engineers, and freelance crew amazing access to scheduling and production data.
“We will miss Doug enormously,” said Philip Garvin, Mobile TV Group, general manager. “He was such an important part of MTVG and of sports television production in general. Although he was a very private person, he touched many people in a distinctive and unforgettable manner. He stood for the highest standards of ethics, hard work, intelligence and service to clients. It seems like anyone who encountered Doug was the better for it. Very simply, he was a great guy.”
Clark is survived by his mother, Emily Clark, his sister Jaclyn Morrow, and his close friend, Sherry Lewis.
To honor Doug’s service to the industry, MTVG will dedicate its newest truck, 26HDX, to his memory at a launch ceremony in March in Denver.
