Vancouver 2010: CTV Utilizes Dejero Technology to Distribute Olympic Torch Relay Video

CTV, Canada’s national broadcaster, has turned to a new technology to deliver live online and on-air video coverage of the Olympic Torch Relay currently winding its way through Canada.

The technology, which was Developed by Waterloo, Canada, startup Dejero, identifies available cell phone bandwidth, encodes video to that bit rate and distributes outgoing video data across multiple cell phone connections. Broadcast Engineering reports that the yet-to-be-named product will work with existing cell phone service WiFi connections, satellite data services, such as Inmarsat’s BGAN network, or next-generation wireless links, such as WiMAX and HSPA+ networks.
