Vancouver 2010: NBC To Cut Down Live Streaming of Events

Contrary to previous claims by the network, NBC will actually decrease its streaming of live events from the Vancouver Games.  NBC will stream only curling and hockey live online, with all other events airing either live or taped on television before hitting the Web.  This is a marked departure from the 2,200 hours of live streaming that the network provided for Beijing in 2008.

Broadcasting & Cable reports that the move comes in the wake of NBC’s concerns about Internet viewing cannibalizing TV viewing.  NBC has already projected a $250 million loss on the 2010 Winter Games.
