Four PacSat Uplink Trucks Transmit Super Bowl XLIV Action

Last Sunday, PacSat International provided a total of four uplink trucks for CBS Sports’ broadcast of the Super Bowl XLIV action at Sun Life Stadium in Miami.

PacSat’s newest C- and Ku-band HD uplink truck (built by Frontline Communications out of Florida) was one of the primary transmission systems, which included Level 3 and AT&T.

Three smaller trucks transmitted reports from key locations that were downlinked on the big truck’s 2.4 meter AVL Ku antenna. The signals were fed to the production trucks, switched appropriately into the day’s broadcasts and fed out again on PacSat’s 4.8-meter Patriot C band antenna using Paradise Datacom SSPA’s.
